Possible Meeting Venues for Ruthin U3A Groups

A member’s home is the cheapest and easiest to arrange if the group is fairly small.

Nantclwyd y Dre. For up to 20. The parlour is heated in winter. Cost:  £20 per hour (£30 for 1.5 hours). A hot water urn, cups, sugar tea coffee and milk with suggested a donation of 50p each Kate Thomson  07979 704189 Kate.Thomson@denbighshire.gov.uk .

Llys Goodman (by Market Street Car Park). Kitchen but no projector. £15 per session. Mondays, Tues pm and Fridays generally available. Book via Mike Baines.

Rugby Club (they also have a smaller room upstairs). Plenty of parking. Costs £23 for 2 hrs or £35 for 3 hrs. Has kitchen and projector (in both rooms). Good audio-visual equipment in main room. Often booked. Book via Sarah Shiers (sarah.shiers@hotmail.com 07552 802169 or 07359 099591?)

Library – their meeting room costs £20 per half day and can accommodate 25 facing the window or 30 facing the fireplace – the former is better if using a screen – or 14 if boardroom layout. It has a kitchen and projector / screen and a hearing loop. Call them to make bookings. Agree layout prior to meeting. Pay cash on the day. NB reduced opening hours from June 24 (see footnote).

Wetherspoons. Tables are free to use (should buy at least a coffee). No projector. Larger groups should check in advance at the bar.

Naylor Leyland Centre. The ground floor conference room (up to 60 people) is £15 per hour for a minimum of 2 hours, so £30 for 2 hours. The big room above is the same. The small first floor meeting room can hold up to 8 people and is £8 per hour for a minimum of 2 hours, so £16 for 2 hours. All rooms have access to a kitchen. Projector and a large, portable screen is available. The large downstairs room n/a Tues or Fri afternoons. Small room tends to be more available.

Presbyterian Church. Meeting room in basement, £10 per hour. Kitchen but no projector.

The Old Courthouse, St Peter’s Square - space for community group meetings, functions and film screening, evenings only. Has screen and projector. Bookings via Kate Harcus manager@oldcourthouse.wales 01824 703797 or 07736 794775, £35 per evening from 6pm. May be available in the daytime.

Memorial Playing Fields clubhouse – plenty of parking, projector and screen, WiFi (c3bb6f46d7) TV, equipped kitchen, charge £30 for ½ day. Rhos Street School (the new campus) – the hall which seats up to 100 is available in the evenings at £30 for 2 hrs. Good audio-visual equipment. Contact office (Emyr or Sally) on 01824 702565

Out of Ruthin:

Llanfair DC Village Hall. Has committee room with digital white board, as well as the main hall, and a kitchen. Charges are flexible. Plenty of parking. Has WiFi. Book via Phil Webb.

Genus AI Centre – their quite large conference room that is available for hire in the evenings (and subject to availability in the afternoon). Any contributions for use of this room is donated to Wales Air Ambulance. Plenty of parking. Has kitchen and projector. Book through Megan.Ellis@genusplc.com

Rhewl Pavilion – a large modern building with good facilities including a projector. Book via Mike Denman 01824 702750. Cost?
